Here's a 3 minute guided meditation to help you course correct an out of character moment.
So take a deep breath in, and on the exhale, relax, because all that has happened is you have had an out of character moment. You DID something that wasn't in line with WHO you are. Yes there will be impacts of this. But you have it within your own control to course correct. … right now …
So take a deep breath in, and imagine it's being reported on the news … and describe what you did that was out of character … for some reason when we share it like it's on the news we realize how maybe not as big of a deal this is … like imagine "Good evening, welcome to Live 5 News. Tonight . . . Meghan stepped on her kids' toys and reacted with a raised voice." … or "Good evening welcome to Live 5 News … Meghan skipped her workout 3 days in a row."
It seems to bring some levity into this process. By saying it like it's on the news.
Now . . . what about what you did - seems to not sit well with you … we're getting clear on the aspect of your character that was forgotten in this moment.
So - here's how simple this is. Who did you forget you are in this moment? …
Now I'm here to remind you .. that's not who you are. It's not. So remind yourself of who you are right now. …
Now, WHAT'S YOUR NEXT STEP. Now go do that next step. Keep yourself on the hook to your exact next step being IN character. And you've just course corrected. …
Carry on.
